We all have read the story of Ramayana in our childhood. In fact, all of us consider Ram and Sita as the perfect epitomes of love and companionship. However, Amish Tripathi brought a change in our thinking by launching the Ram Chandra series. After the first book known as Scion of Ishvaku in which he portrayed Ram as a savior of sorts, he brings to the fore another book in the series. The story starts with the introduction of two powerful tribes who are desperately looking for a savior to rescue them. In between Sunaina and Janak the Queen and king of Mithila land upon a vulture who is trying to protect a baby from a pack of wolves. Lovingly they accept the baby girl as their own and name her Sita. She grows up not only with educational skills but proficient in Martial and fighting skills too. Sita finds her life partner in Ram and they both embark on a journey of a lifetime.
Amish Tripathi the writer of Sita Warrior of Mithila uses a different style of writing in this book. Using hyperlinks he joins the lives of all the characters along with the storyline of the first book in the Ram Chandra series. This makes the book an interesting read and the frequent changes of time and place ensure that you do not feel the pace lagging in between.
Sita- Warrior of Mithila explores the personality of the protagonist in a new light. You do not see her as the docile woman who would obey all the orders imposed on her. On the contrary, Sita is brave, fearless and ready to stand up for her rights. Apart from that the writer also tries to incorporate a lot of social issues and provides an insightful approach to looking at them.
However, Amish has repeated a lot of stuff that has already been mentioned in the first book of the series. This can be a letdown for readers who are expecting a totally unique storyline in this book. Consequently, since all of them are interlinked together it will help you in recollecting all the incidents.
Sita Warrior of Mithila is a refreshing take on how we understand the existence of women in the mythological era. The climax provides us insights into how the next book is going to shape up.
